Equity Councillor DAN FRICK is New President of AFTRA’s Chicago Local

Equity Councillor Dan Frick is the new President of the AFTRA Chicago local. At the February AFTRA membership meeting, Dan was saluted by the retiring President, broadcaster Dick Kay. Dick told the assembled members that Dan had run with his endorsement and that he felt confident that he was leaving the local in good hands.

Frick joined Equity in 1978 has been a member of AFTRA since 1976. He was elected to the Midwest Advisory Board of Equity in 1980, has been a Councillor since National rep took effect and is currently serving a five-year term as Principle Councillor. In Chicago, he serves on several committees and is a member of Equity’s Central Regional Board.

Tim Leahy, the Chicago Federation of Labor Secretary/Treasurer, attended as a guest speaker and also had high praise for Dan's commitment to labor: Dan is well known to the CFL. For many years he has been a CFL delegate simultaneously appointed by Equity, AFTRA and SAG.

Equity’s retired Central Regional Vice President, Madeleine Fallon, said, “in the many years that Dan and I have worked together, Dan has shown always tremendous dedication and is one of the most outstanding union people I know.”

“It is both flattering and humbling to be elected to such an elevated position. I only hope to be as strong an advocate as we’ve had these past 8 years in Dick Kay,” said Frick.
