The Joe A. Callaway Award Kathryn Meisle, Everett Quinton Receive Equity Classic Theatre Award Kathryn Meisle and Everett Quinton have received the 2008 Joe A. Callaway Award presented by the Actors’ Equity Foundation. The announcement was made by Arne Gundersen, President of the Foundation, and was presented at AEA on Friday, January 9. Kathryn Meisle and Everett Quinton in WOMEN BEWARE WOMEN Carol Rosegg Both Ms. Meisle and Mr. Quinton were recognized for their performances in the Red Bull Theatre production of WOMEN BEWARE WOMEN, presented at St. Clement’s Church. In 2003, Kathryn Meisle received Equity’s Callaway Award for her performance in Moliere’s TARTUFFE, for which she also received a Tony nomination as best featured actress in a play. She appeared in the 2005 revival of O’Neill’s A TOUCH OF THE POET and the Roundabout Theatre’s revival of THE CONSTANT WIFE. TV appearances have been on Grey’s Anatomy, Brothers and Sisters and CSI Miami, among others. Women Beware Women cast member Roberta Maxwell presented the award to Everett Quinton Photo: John Quilty Everett Quinton was the co-founder, with his partner Charles Ludlum, of the Ridiculous Theatrical Company, which disbanded in 1996. He has appeared to critical acclaim in THE MYSTERY OF IRMA VEP and in the National Tour of RODGERS AND HAMMERSTEIN’S CINDERELLA, which played at Madison Square Garden in 2001. A director and playwright as well, Mr. Quinton has appeared extensively in regional theatres. The award was established by Equity member Joe A. Callaway to encourage participation in the classics and non-profit theatre and honors the best performance in a professional production of a classic play (one written prior to 1920) in the New York metropolitan area. It includes a $1,000 check plus an engraved plaque for each recipient.
