The St. Clair Bayfield Award

Presented to CARMAN LACIVITA for "Rose Rage"

Carman Lacivita, received the annual St. Clair Bayfield Award, presented by Actors’ Equity Association, on Friday, January 7th at the Eastern Regional Board Meeting at the Union’s national headquarters in New York City.
Established in 1973 in memory of Equity member St. Clair Bayfield, the Award honors the best performance by an actor in a Shakespearean play in the New York metropolitan area. Lacivita’s portrayal of multiple characters in the Chicago Shakespeare Theater Production of ROSE RAGE: HENRY VI, 1,2,3, which moved to The Duke on West 42nd Street, garnered the young actor the honor. The Award, administered by the Actors’ Equity Foundation, is a yearly event and comes with a $1000 honorarium and commemorative plaque.
Carman has performed in a range of Shakespearean roles in regional theatres and Off Broadway, including: Macbeth/MACBETH, Tybalt/ROMEO AND JULIET, Simple/THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR, France/KING LEAR, Puck and Flute/A MIDSUMMER NIGHTS DREAM. He holds an MFA in Acting from the Mason Gross School of the Arts – Rutgers University and has appeared in productions at Crossroads, The Flying Fig, Connelly Theatre, and the Majestic.

The Judges' Panel for the award includes Irene Backalenick, Back Stage; Betty Corwin, Director of Special Projects, Theatre on Film & Tape Archive of the Lincoln Center Library for the Performing Arts; Michael Kuchwara, Associated Press; David Rosenberg, Back Stage; Douglas Watt, The Daily News, and Carl Harms, President of the Foundation.
